About this calendar
Kerala keeps time in three layers. There is the English date, the Malayalam date counted in the solar Kollavarsham era, and the day's star (naal) and lunar day (tithi) from the panchangam. Birthdays, temple festivals, Onam and the day to perform Vavu bali all depend on the Malayalam layers, not on the English date.
This site calculates those layers from the positions of the Sun and Moon for Thiruvananthapuram, using the conventions Kerala panchangams follow. We then check them against the Kerala Gazette and devaswom announcements. Every page states how its dates were produced, so you can see what is official and what is calculated.
